Meet Your Wellness Partners

We believe that lifelong health and vitality are our birthright, even though it can be hard to pinpoint why we lose it or how to get it back.

At Peak Performance, we are committed to helping you reach optimal health. We believe that one size does not fit all, and we strive to provide individualized care to all our patients.

"True health and wellness is about more than just the absence of disease. It's about feeling vibrant and alive, and living your best life."

Dr. Mark Hyman

  • Dr Michael Barbour was born in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia), before moving to Kwa-Zulu Natal at a young age. His passion for understanding the human body stems from his high school and university days, where he was involved in sports at a very high level. Through the injuries he sustained, he developed an interest in the complexities of the body and its responses to various treatments – particularly chiropractic and physiotherapy. After matriculating from Michaelhouse in the Natal Midlands, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in the U.S.A.

Having graduated in 2006, Dr Barbour returned to South Africa where he practiced for 7 years at a sports injury related clinic before starting Peak Performance in 2014. Over the course of his career, Dr Barbour has assisted many elite athletes, as well as non-sporting individuals and families. He furthered his studies by completing his ICSC certification, qualifying through the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic.

Dr Barbour’s passion lies in educating his patients on the importance of the spinal column and nervous system.

“Our love of families and our commitment to the community has given rise to the Peak Performance Clinic. We believe we have created a facility that will make a real difference in helping people, not only with aches and pains, but also by educating them on what real health and wellness is all about.” Dr Michael Barbour

  • Dr Enya Vogl was born in Austria and lived overseas for much of her childhood before moving to Cape Town in her teens. She completed her schooling at the German school in Cape Town and then went on to study chiropractic at the Durban University of Technology. During her student years in Durban, Dr Enya sat on the World Congress of Chiropractic students, representing her university in Spain as head delegate. She was recognised for her accomplishments in the field of sports chiropractic with the Canadian Federation of Sports Chiropractic award in 2018. This recognition further sparked her passion for assisting athletes – not only in recovering from injury, but to become empowered to reach their peak performance. Dr Enya has completed further studies in the fields of Perinatal and Paediatric Chiropractic. She has a keen interest in keeping up to date with international chiropractic standards and believes you should never stop learning.

Dr Enya is double board certified to practice in the United Kingdom as well as South Africa. Her interests lie in working with individuals as well as families to optimise health and wellness. After having had back surgery when she was a teenager and then being successfully rehabilitated through chiropractic, she’s now driven to empower her patients with the correct information in conjunction with a natural yet proactive approach to their recovery and overall wellbeing.

Experience has convinced Dr Vogl that we can all thrive and reach overall wellness through movement, the right nutrition, and correct thinking patterns.

  • Dalene studied at Stellenbosch university. Having qualified in 2003, she practiced for 2 years in South Africa before moving to London. There, she had the opportunity to work with leading endocrinologists, gastroenterologists and oncologists in the private health sector – as well as start her own practice in Harley Street in central London. During this period, she consulted to several private hospitals and was instrumental in establishing their dietetic services. In addition, she provided specialised nutrition intervention in both hospital and private settings. Dalene was further involved as a consultant in public health, as part of a drive to improve diabetes care among refugees living in the Hamlet district.

Upon her return to South Africa in 2010, she established Consultant Dieticians. However, despite her specialisation in gut and hormonal health, it soon became apparent to Dalene that traditional dietetics was unable to provide either adequate patient care or symptom alleviation. It was this realisation that led her to investigate personalised medicine. Over the course of her enquiries, she studied nutrigenomics, functional and integrative medicine. In the 9 years that followed, she pursued additional qualifications to offer patients a more holistic, preventative, personalised and targeted solution for their health and lifestyle challenges. Her practice is the result of a deep desire to see every patient who walks through the doors leave a more energised, optimised, confident and healthy version of themselves.

  • With a background in corporate and fashion retail, Marlien began transitioning into the wellness space in 2018 while still working full-time. Her curiosity about the mind-body connection led her to study exercise science, Pilates, and yoga, eventually earning a 400-hour yoga certification.

A pivotal stretch therapy session six years ago shifted her path. With no local training available at the time, she explored holistic massage until she could formally train with Stretch Method SA. Her work has since expanded to include lymphatic drainage massage.

Marlien brings a grounded, intuitive approach to helping clients restore ease in their bodies, regulate stress, and reconnect with themselves through mindful, therapeutic touch. She is passionate about supporting athletes and active individuals with mobility, recovery, and injury prevention through stretch therapy.

Fully immersed in her calling, Marlien combines purposeful movement and hands on care to guide others toward greater vitality, ease, and embodied wellbeing.

“The body is intelligent and built to recover, but we’re not meant to walk the path of healing alone. True transformation doesn’t come through force, often it’s the gentlest touch that brings the most profound shifts.” Marlien Visagie

Brain Optimisation Technologist

  • Brain Optimisation practitioner Rory Park-Ross grew up in Johannesburg, where he trained as a mechanical engineer. Following a successful career as a construction, manufacture, sub-sea and offshore mining engineer throughout South Africa and in Malawi, Rory’s path was diverted dramatically when, in 2002, he was struck by a life-altering illness.

He spent 3 years searching for relief from pain and fatigue before reaching the conclusion that there had to be a better way of approaching health and wellness. This lead him to discover High-resolution, Relational, Resonance-based Electroencephalic Mirroring – more commonly known as Brain Optimisation.

It was by undergoing Brain Optimisation himself that Rory came to recognise just how life-changing the treatment could be. Having deciding to purchase and train in the technology in 2005, he’s gone on to assist more than 5 500 clients. Inspired by his personal journey of healing, he remains driven to assist as many patients as possible in their quest to live their best lives to the full.

“An optimised brain helps you experience more restful sleep which allows for many other benefits including improved energy levels, cognitive function, clarity, decision making, and confidence, as well as releasing stress, overcoming worry and anxiety and restoring hope and happiness. These benefits can be life changing. If you’ve tried other modalities, medications or methods – ask yourself – did I experience more restful sleep, greater mental clarity and more energy?” Rory Park-Ross
